This page answers one question plainly: what does Mycel do for a small team, who is it for, and what does it cost? Every fact below is what the product does today.
Quick answer
Mycel is the business's memory and the owner's desk. Everything the business knows lives in one shared vault of plain-markdown folders, an assistant answers the team from it and shows which documents it read, and Home opens on Today, one list of what is waiting on a person across the business's apps. It is built for trade shops and appointment businesses, and it is the brain the rest of the Martello stack reads from: Relay or TradesBackbone, ReputeLift and SynthPrism.
At a glance
- What it is: one shared vault of plain-markdown folders the team works in, an assistant that answers from it, team chat, capture by voice note, upload or forwarded email, and Today.
- Who it is for: trade shops of about 3 to 25 people (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, landscaping and lawn care, cleaning, pest control) and appointment businesses (salons, barbers, lash and brow studios, med spas, tattoo studios, groomers).
- What it is not: Mycel is not a CRM. Customer records stay in Relay or TradesBackbone, one click away.
- How it connects: Relay (appointment businesses) or TradesBackbone (trade shops) for customers, jobs and conversations; ReputeLift for reviews; SynthPrism for social posts. Each one reads from what Mycel knows.
- Who sets it up: the business does, from the setup guides, starting free with no card.
- Price: Free $0 for one person; Personal $69 a month; Personal Plus $119 a month; Business $199 a month for 3 people, plus $59 a month per extra seat up to 25. Annual billing is 12 months for the price of 11.
- Your data: the whole vault exports as markdown at any time.
What Mycel does, one job at a time
It holds what the business knows
Prices, policies, procedures, vendor terms and decisions live in one vault of plain-markdown files in real folders. The team builds it by talking to the assistant, uploading documents and spreadsheets, and capturing as they work. Every document keeps a history of who changed what and when, with restore, and something the assistant filed can be undone.
It answers the team from that record
Ask in plain words and the assistant answers from the vault. Each answer shows which vault documents it read, and a reply that read nothing from the vault is marked that way, so the person asking can check the source. It answers from uploaded spreadsheets down to the named file, sheet and row, and it can turn an answer into a spreadsheet, a chart, a one-page brief or a slide deck.
It captures as the team works
Record a voice note, upload a recording or file, type a note, or forward an email to the business's own email-in address. Each capture is filed and sorted into cards such as tasks, people, follow-ups and prices, for a person to review.
It gives the team one place to talk
On the Business plan, team chat has channels (every business has #general) and direct messages. Type @assistant in any message and it answers in the thread from the business vault. It may offer to file a decision note or add a task, which does nothing until a person approves it.
It is the owner's desk
Home opens on Today: a list of what is waiting on a person across the connected apps, with which app it came from, why it surfaced, how long it has waited and a link straight to it. On the Business plan every employee gets their own filtered Today, while cash and approvals stay with the owner and admins. Anything Mycel's assistant would change inside another Martello app waits in Approvals first.
How Mycel connects to the rest of the stack
Mycel is the brain of one connected stack. A business runs one customer app, never both:
| App | Who it is for | What it reads from Mycel | |-----|---------------|--------------------------| | Relay | Appointment businesses | Only the folders the owner shares with it, and it uses them when answering customers only after one extra approval by the owner | | TradesBackbone | Trade shops | Only the folders the owner shares with it | | ReputeLift | Both | The business vault, for its review replies | | SynthPrism | Both | The vault, for brand voice and business facts in the posts it drafts |
The connected apps can also file what the business learns there into the vault. Connecting them is part of the Business plan.
Who Mycel is for
Mycel is built for two kinds of business:
- Trade shops of about 3 to 25 people: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, landscaping and lawn care, cleaning and pest control. They run TradesBackbone for jobs, estimates and invoices, and Mycel holds the price book, procedures and decisions the crew asks about.
- Appointment businesses: salons, barbers, lash and brow studios, med spas, tattoo studios and groomers. They run Relay for conversations and booking, and Mycel holds the service menu, policies and aftercare notes the front desk and Relay's AI answer from.
Consider a hypothetical eight-person plumbing shop. The owner writes the price book and the warranty policy in the vault once. A technician asks @assistant in team chat what the shop charges for a water heater swap, and the answer shows which document it came from. The owner opens Home in the morning and sees, in one list, the estimate waiting on a customer in TradesBackbone and the review waiting on a reply in ReputeLift.

What is Mycel?
Mycel is the business's memory and the owner's desk. Is Mycel a CRM?
No. Mycel holds the business's knowledge: prices, policies, procedures and decisions. Customer records stay in Relay for appointment businesses or TradesBackbone for trade shops, one click away from Mycel.
How much does Mycel cost?

How does Mycel work with TradesBackbone, Relay, ReputeLift and SynthPrism?
On the Business plan, Mycel connects to Relay or TradesBackbone, ReputeLift and SynthPrism, and each reads from what Mycel knows.
